Community Housing Opportunities - The Community Residence Program provides independent living apartments in buildings owned and/or managed by Ravenwood. Most of the apartments are designed for a roommate. Rents are established by the landlord at 35% of the tenant's income up to the Fair Market Rent (FMR). Participants maintain a standard tenant/landlord lease and the program is designed to provide a natural community experience. The Residential Support Program is a room and board housing service with some supervision within a family-type setting. Participants must be requesting and in need of some supervision but able to care for daily needs, including medication. Rent (room and board) is established at 50% of the tenant's income. The Transitional Living Center (TLC) is a residential treatment program operated by Ravenwood Mental Health Center. The TLC is designed to meet the needs of persons with mental illness who require 24 hour supervision. Applicants must meet clinical eligibility guidelines and be able to bathe, feed and clothe themselves without physical assistance. Rental Assistance Programs - The Housing Assistance Program is a temporary rental assistance program to help persons secure safe affordable housing while waiting to obtain a Section 8 voucher, or employment income. Participants locate an apartment in the community and enter into a standard lease with the landlord. Rental assistance will be based on the Fair Market Rent for the unit and the tenant will be required to pay up to 40% of income. The participant is not required to participate in mental health programming beyond initial and annual eligibility determination. The Shelter Plus Care Program is funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, to provide homeless person with mental illness with permanent, safe, secure and decent housing, in conjunction with mental health support services. The applicants must meet the HUD definition of homeless and be mentally disabled. They must also need and participate in some level of mental health support services.
