Ravenwood
Mental Health Center

Ravenwood Center has served the residents of Geauga County faithfully since 1966, with its mission being to provide community based services that will maximize the independence and quality of life for the recipients of its services. Headed by a Board of Trustees that is comprised of dedicated and talented county citizens, the agency strives to develop and maintain programs that are responsive to the mental health needs of community members. This is achieved by utilizing a well qualified team of professionals, working in an atmosphere where the inherent worth and dignity of every individual is valued, and employing quality assurance processes to insure that programming maintains itself at the highest standard of care possible. Ravenwood accepts Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, and has a sliding fee scale for Geauga County residents who qualify. Ravenwood is a JCAHO accredited organization.

Funding is provided by the Geauga County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services and the United Way Services Geauga.

Emergency Services

Copeline - This hotline service provides 24-hour linkage for mental health, child/elder abuse and neglect, domestic violence, or substance abuse related emergencies in Geauga County. Staff is also able to provide information on other social services concerns such as counseling sources, food banks, and national hotline numbers.

Crisis Intervention - This program offers quality mental health intervention 24 hours a day to individuals who are experiencing a mental health crisis. Master's level therapists respond face-to-face and by telephone to individuals and their families in an effort to de-escalate the situation and stabilize the client. Coordination and linkage with other services is done to support clients needs utilizing the least restrictive method of intervention. This can be accessed by contacting the agency directly, or calling CopeLine at (440)285-5665 or 1-888-285-5665. This line is available 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. It is also for domestic violence emergencies and for reporting child abuse and neglect.

Pre-Hospital Screening - This service offers face-to-face assessments 24 hours per day for individuals who are experiencing a mental health crisis severe enough to potentially require psychiatric hospitalization. Clients are assessed to determine what the least restrictive environment is that will allow for safety, stability, and a reduction in the symptoms, which led to the evaluation.

Mental Health

Mental Health Counseling - Individual, marital, family and group therapy is provided to those individuals and families who desire a change in their mental and emotional health and functioning. A multi-disciplinary approach to treatment offers integrated service delivery and an opportunity to blend the strengths of the agency's staff of therapists, community support workers and medical personnel towards the goal of improving overall mental health functioning.

Parenting Skills Group - To many, the task of parenting can be confusing and overwhelming. It is for this reason that Ravenwood Mental Health Center is offering a group focused on providing the basic skills needed for parenting. The Parenting Skills Group is designed for parents of children ages 3-12, who would benefit from concrete ways in which to deal with their children's behavior. These individuals may be currently inhibited in their ability to parent effectively and consistently by their own disabilities or excessive stress. This 8 week program is offered several times throughout the year. The program is free of charge and is funded by the Geauga County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services.

Contact Lisa Ioannidis, PC at 440-285-3568 for more information.

Drug and Alcohol/Mental Health Services

Diagnostic Assessment and Counseling - Assessments are completed to determine the extent of any drug and/or alcohol use and to assess the client's mental health needs. Services are provided by licensed mental health professionals who specialize in addiction treatment. Counseling is available for individuals with substance use issues as well as for their families and significant others.

Intensive Outpatient Program for Teens

Drugs and Alcohol are a significant problem for our youth today. While some youth are able to abstain, many others experiment with drugs and alcohol and some of these youth become addicted.

The Intensive Outpatient Program at Ravenwood Mental Health Center provides treatment for youth who have been diagnosed with an addiction to drugs and/or alcohol. Youth attend 3 nights a week for three to four hours a night. Their family joins them in treatment once a week and they are required to attend at least three AA meetings a week. Such intensity is necessary because the disease takes control of the lives it touches.

For more information contact Alyssa Mitchell, LPCC, IOP Coordinator at Ravenwood Mental Health Center at (440)285-3568.

Prevention - Prevention services are provided to Geauga County residents at Ravenwood and in local school districts.

Groups are provided in the school setting to youth that are identified as at risk. Prevention workers participate in such school based programs as Pride, Red Ribbon, and Teen Institute.

Early Warnings - This is an early intervention and education program provided to adolescents and their parents or guardians. It is designed to educate about dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. For more information, call Ravenwood Mental Health Center at 440-285-3568.

Anger Management Education Groups - This educational program is provided throughout the year to adolescents and adults.

Chagrin Falls Park Program - Outreach and counseling are provided to residents of the Chagrin Falls Park Community at their community center.

The STOP Program/Sexual Abuse Treatment

The STOP Program provides Geauga County residents with immediate and continuous help to children, their families, and offenders, through the investigation, prosecution, and treatment process.

Job and Family Services, the Prosecutors Office, the Sexual Abuse Investigator, and Ravenwood Mental Health Center all work collaboratively to assist those families in need. The Geauga County Mental Health Board, United Way and Job and Family Services also assist with funding the services. The treatment portion of this program is provided by Ravenwood therapists.

When sexual abuse occurs and is disclosed, most families experience stress and are worried about what their future will hold. The STOP Program, including the STOP Community Support worker, is available to help those families manage their stress and confusion by being an advocate and also being available for home visits, assisting with education, giving support, and linking families with services and treatment.
