Employment & Vocational Services
Supported Employment assists mental health consumers in obtaining and maintaining employment. Ravenwood strongly believes that being employed can significantly increase the potential for recovery.Supported Employment emphasizes the importance of consumer preferences, a rapid job search, and competitive job goals. This program is located at the John Murray Center, 208 North Hambden Street in Chardon. We would like to welcome Nicole Miraglia as the new Employment Specialist. Emergency Services COPELINE - provides 24-hour linkage for mental health, child/elder abuse and neglect, domestic violence, or substance abuse related emergencies in Geauga County. Staff is also able to provide information on other social services concerns such as counseling sources, food banks, and national hotline numbers. Geauga County residents can access COPEline by calling 285-5665 or (toll-free) 1-888-285-5665. CRISIS INTERVENTION - quality mental health intervention is provided 24 hours a day to individuals who are experiencing a mental health crisis. Master's Level therapists respond face-to-face and by telephone to individuals and their families in an effort to de-escalate the situation and stabilize the client. Coordination and linkage with other services is done to support client's needs utilizing the least restrictive method of intervention. This can be done by contacting the agency directly, or calling COPEline. PRE-HOSPITAL SCREENING - face-to-face assessments are available 24 hours per day for individuals who are experiencing a mental health crisis severe enough to potentially require psychiatric hospitalization. Clients are assessed to determine what the least restrictive environment is that will allow for safety, stability, and a reduction in the symptoms which led to the evaluation. Substance Abuse Services DIAGNOSTIC ASSESSMENT AND COUNSELING - assessments are completed to determine the extent of any drug and/or alcohol use and to assess the client's mental health needs. Services are provided by licensed mental health professionals who specialize in addiction treatment. Counseling is available for individuals with substance use issues as well as for their families and significant others. INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM FOR TEENS - Ravenwood Mental Health Center provides treatment for youth who have been diagnosed with an addiction to drugs and/or alcohol. Youth attend 3 nights a week for three to four hours a night. Their family joins them in treatment once a week and they are required to attend at least three AA meetings a week. Such intensity is necessary because the disease takes control of the lives it touches. PREVENTION SERVICES - Prevention services are provided to Geauga County residents at Ravenwood and in local school districts. Groups are provided in the school setting to youth that are identified as at risk. Prevention workers participate in such school based programs as Pride, Red Ribbon, and Teen Institute. EARLY WARNINGS PROGRAM - This is an early intervention and education program provided to adolescents and their parents or guardians. It is designed to educate about dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. CHAGRIN FALLS PARK - Outreach and counseling are provided to residents of the Chagrin Falls Park Community at their community center. Sexual Abuse Treatment Services STOP PROGRAM - The STOP Program provides Geauga County residents with immediate and continuous help to children, their families, and offenders, through the investigation, prosecution, and treatment process. Job and Family Services, the Prosecutors Office, the Sexual Abuse Investigator, and Ravenwood Mental Health Center all work collaboratively to assist those families in need. The Geauga County Mental Health Board, United Way and Job and Family Services also assist with funding the services. The treatment portion of this program is provided by Ravenwood therapists. When sexual abuse occurs and is disclosed, most families experience stress and are worried about what their future will hold. The STOP Program, including the STOP Community Support worker, is available to help those families manage their stress and confusion by being an advocate and also being available for home visits, assisting with education, giving support, and linking families with services and treatment. Counseling Services Mental Health professionals specialized in addressing the needs of victims, offenders, and their families provide: * Individual Therapy * Family Therapy * Couples Therapy * Group Therapy * Community Support Services GROUP THERAPY- Specific Group Therapy Services are available for: * Child Survivors * Adolescent Survivors * Adolescents at Risk * Adults Molested as Children * Adult Male Survivors * Parents of Survivors * Adult Offenders * Adolescent Offenders * Parents of Adolescent Offenders. Psychiatric Services - This program provides psychiatric care to individuals who are experiencing psychiatric and chemical dependency disorders, and does so with the goal of maintaining or improving functional capacity. The staff includes Board Certified Child and Adolescent and General Psychiatrists as well as a psychiatric nurse. Psychiatric assessment and ongoing care are offered on an outpatient basis, and pharmacological and psychotherapeutic interventions are offered. Linkage to prescription assistance programs, including Central Pharmacy, is provided to persons who qualify. Adult Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) - This program consists of a variety of therapy groups and is designed to increase community tenure and decrease psychiatric hospitalizations. It meets Monday through Friday from 9:45 a.m. - 1:45. p.m. for 12 week sessions. Bridges Program - The Partial Hospital Program provides group therapy for Geauga County youth ages 11-17 who are at risk for psychiatric hospitalization or residential treatment placement. The overall intention is to provide a safe, non-threatening, structured, and therapeutic environment while decreasing the risk of out of home placement. Staff members work closely with parents and schools while providing youth with the skills to maximize their potential for growth and maturity. Program meets Monday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Community Support Services COMMUNITY SUPPORT WORKERS - Community Support Workers are a key part of services to persons with severe and chronic mental illness in the community. They provide support and monitoring to persons in community settings, helping to build and maintain their independence, and link to needed services. ACT (ASSERTIVE COMMUNITY TREATMENT) - is a team-based approach to providing intensive mental health services in the community to the most severely mentally ill individuals in Geauga County. The team works to help individuals maintain their independence in the community and decrease need for psychiatric hospitalization.
