toimproving the lives of persons living with serious mental illness
and their families.

Support Groups
- Do you often feel depressed much of the day?
- Have you lost interest in things you used to enjoy?
- Do you spend a lot of time at home, not going out?
- Are you sensitive to the reactions of others?
- Do you have a a difficult time connecting with other people?
- Would you like to meet other people who have similar feelings?
If you can answer "yes" to any of these
questions, Neighboring's Support Group Program may be for you.
Among the topics discussed at the group meetings
are Depression, Anger, Communication, Assertiveness, Medication,
and Healthy Coping Skills.
Meet people who feel like you do, and share as much as you'd
like,
in a warm and open atmosphere.

Supportive Family Friendship
- for the family members of loved ones with a suspected or diagnosed
brain disorder, personality disorder, or substance abuse/dependence
disorder, the SFF program provides:
- Much needed, stigma-free SUPPORT
- Opportunities to share experiences, feelings and resource INFORMATION.
- Accurate, up-to-date mental health and substance abuse EDUCATION.
- Coping SKILLS to deal with situations in healthier and more
effective ways.

You may be eligible for
one of NEIGHBORING's Mood Disorder Groups
if you are...
- Diagnosed with, and take medication
for, any of the Depressive Disorders (Major Depression, Dysthymia)
or Bipolar Disorders (Bipolar I, Bipolar II, Cyclothymia)
- Interested in discussing various concerns
or issues of life, including relationships, communication, assertiveness,
anger, medication effects, stigma, employment, substance use,
wanting to feel 'normal,' etc.
PLEASE NOTE: Before joining a group, an intake interview
and diagnostic assessment must be completed. For details about groups

EMPLOYMENT
SERVICES
Employment is viewed by many as an essential
part of recovery from a severe mental illness. The side
effects of competitive employment are:
- Higher self-esteem
- Better control of psychiatric symptoms
- More satisfaction with finances and with leisure
You are eligible for Neighboring's Employment Services if you are:
- 18 years of age or older
- Have the desire to work
- Have a severe mental disability OR
- Are referred by a contracted agency
Employment Services include:
- Job Readiness Training - Receive one-on-one training
in resume development, completing an application and interview
skills.
- Volunteer Employment, Support and Training (V.E.S.T.)
- This program uses volunteer work as a pre-employment training
tool. Provides a supportive environment in which to practice critical
work skills and build confidence and self-esteem.
- Job Placement and Job Coaching - Places prescreened
job-ready individuals in competitive employment and offers on-site
instruction regarding specific duties.
- Follow Along Services - Provided as an ongoing
service to those who get a job, to assure that they keep the job.

NATIONAL ACCREDITATION
Neighboring is nationally accredited
by The Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission (CARF), for the following
programs: Outpatient Treatment Program; Employee Development
Services; Community Employment Services; Job Development; Community
Employment Services; Job-Site Training; and Community Employment
Services; Job Supports. CARF is a nationally recognized not
for profit accrediting authority whose sole concern is to promote
quality service for people with disabilities. This is the fourth
consecutive Three-year Accreditation outcomes awarded to Neighboring
by CARF.
The Three-year Accreditation outcome represents the highest level
of accreditation, and is awarded to organizations that show substantial
fulfillment of the standards established by CARF. An organization
receiving a Three-year Accreditation outcome has put itself through
a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated that its programs
and services are of the highest quality, measurable and accountable.
Further, an organization accredited for three years clearly indicates
that present conditions represent an established pattern of total
operations that is likely to be maintained or improved in the foreseeable
future.
