PRIDE
Mike Link Driver Intervention Program
Lake Geauga Recovery Centers offers
a 3-day Drive Intervention Program for first time DUI offenders
called The Mike Link Driver Intervention
Program. This program is an alternative to spending
three days of incarceration for a DUI offense. Participants
spend three days in a rustic setting with guest speakers, video's
and lectures that enable them to take a well rounded look at
all aspects of their DUI offense.
The program runs from Thursday
evening at 5:00 p.m. till Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m. Participants
gain information and insight on their judgment in driving situations
as well as focusing on their own personal responsibility with
drinking and driving.
Participants will be educated
on a variety of subjects which include:
-
OBMV information
-
Interpretation of DUI law
-

Family
Program
The Family
Treatment Program offers family members and significant
others an opportunity to learn the disease concept of codependency
as it relates to the disease of addiction. Education and group
activities are designed to promote insight into the negative
emotional impact on both the user, and the family and significant
others in the progression of addiction.
Group education and experiential
opportunities are geared to enhance participants awareness and
internalization of family disease concept and encourage involvement
in a personal recovery process. Group focus will involve personal
identification of "enabling" and controlling codependent
behavior. Participants will develop skills for effective constructive
personal and family recovery.
Interventions:
An intervention will bring together family members, and
others who are concerned about a loved ones alcohol and/or drug
use. The goal is to bring to light and to break through the
users denial of destructive behavior.
Because interventions can be a
complicated and sensitive process, family members should not
try it on their own. Contact the Lake-Geauga Center for professional
help.
